Wichita and Chanute set new record high temperatures on Wednesday, September 21.
Temperatures in Wichita rose to 101-degrees, beating the old record of 99 set back in 1956 and again in 1980.
Chanute hit 103-degrees, topping the old record of 97 from 1956. This is the new latest date to see triple-digit temperatures since 1894.
The Wichita area is seeing temperatures far below 100 today, with highs back in the 90’s for Saturday, then falling back into the 80’s for at least the next 10 days.
Two new high temperature records for the books today:
Wichita rose to 101 degrees breaking the record of 99 from 1956 and 1980.
Chanute climbed to 103 degrees breaking the record of 97 from 1956. This is the latest date at/above 100 degrees since 1894 for this site. #kswx
