A Newton man has been charged in connection with an incident in Wichita involving a car crash and stabbing.

A hearing was held Monday for 38-year-old Julian Gonzalez, who is charged with attempted first degree murder, aggravated battery, child endangerment and criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Police said a car intentionally crashed into another vehicle on September 28th at Murdock and West Street.  The driver then used nunchucks to break the windows of the victim’s car, then he attacked two men who were trying to get children out of the car.    A 30-year-old man was stabbed several times during the incident.    An armed bystander held the suspect at gunpoint until police arrived.

Gonzalez is being held on a bond of $250,000.
