Former President Trump is facing potentially dozens of criminal charges in an indictment from a New York grand jury.
The U.S. Secret Service is now talking with New York authorities about transporting former President Donald Trump to Manhattan to face criminal charges. The law enforcement agency says it’s working with state authorities and Trump’s lawyers to provide for a safe surrender, and that its role is transportation and personal protection, and they are not taking part in Trump’s arrest.
Trump was indicted Thursday by a Manhattan grand jury investigating payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential campaign. Trump has released a statement saying he’s “completely innocent,” and his lawyers are calling his indictment a political attack. He’s the first former president to face criminal charges.
