A motorcycle rider was killed Thursday evening when he collided with a car at an intersection just north of Arkansas City.
The Cowley County Sheriff’s Office said 20-year-old Chase Roberts of Arkansas City was riding north on Summit when he changed from the right lane to the left and began to accelerate. A car had stopped at a stop sign at U.S. Highway 77 and the bypass, and it was attempting to turn south onto Summit to go toward Arkansas City. The motorcycle struck the car and the rider was thrown from the bike.
Roberts was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no injuries reported to the driver of the car, a 41-year-old Arkansas City man.
