Happy “Pre-kend”… If you know you know.  The pre-kend is Thurdsay thru 12n Friday…then at 12:01p on Friday…that’s when the weekend kicks off. (It’s something I heard on the MAX hit show “Succession” and I’m trying to make it a thing.  Till then, here comes 5 things you need to know today in “That’s Trending”

1. 2 gun violence stories in the news from yesterday.  One here in Wichita when a local elementary school was placed on “Lock Out” due to a near by incident with police, emergency vehicles and a man with a gun.  Then, for the 2nd time in about 3 weeks, the campus of the University of North Carolina was placed on lockdown due to an armed and dangerous individual on campus.  Thanks to law enforcement, both situations ended peacefully with no one getting hurt.

2. Be sure to check on your friends and neighbors here in Sedgwick County because no one really knows what someone is going through.  Reports show that suicide rates in Sedgwick County are on the rise. In fact, they are the highest they’ve ever been since the tracking of data began.  Be gentle and kind with yourself and one another.

3. If no deal is reached by midnight tonight, the contracts for 150,000 autoworkers will expire and a series of small strikes could start tomorrow.

4.  Mother Nature seems to be mad at New England.  In the past few months they’ve had record heat, severe weather including a possible tornado, severe flooding and now Cat. 2 storm, Hurricane Lee is set to hit the region on Friday.

5. and everyone is talking about the alleged alien corpses down in Mexico.  DNA tests showed 30% of the genetic material was “unknown”.  Honestly, it looks like someone raided someone’s co-play room in their home while they were in the middle of making a Tiktok.  The corpses have the mouth of Yoda, the head of E.T. and the body of Dobbie the House Elf. The mystery continues
