Ascension Via Christi hospitals in Wichita are back to treating patients in high-level emergency cases after a cyberattack this week.  The hospitals had been diverting all patients to other hospitals after discovering the cyberattack.

The hospitals still have some systems that are unavailable, but they are back to accepting patients needing high levels of care.   The systems that are unavailable include the electronic health records system, some phone systems and processes for ordering certain tests, procedures and medications.  The MyChart program that allows patients to access their medical records and communicate with their providers is still unavailable.

Officials with the Ascension health care network issued a statement saying they are working with internal and external advisors to restore systems, but that will take time to complete and it’s not clear when systems will be back to normal operation.    Some non-emergent elective procedures, tests and appointments are on hold for now.
