Kansas Governor Laura Kelly has announced over $6.6 million for ten projects aimed at improving safety on rural roads.

The funding is part of the Kansas Department of Transportation’s High Risk Rural Roads Program, which is federally funded through the Highway Safety Improvement Program. This year’s ten projects were selected from 46 applications that were submitted.

One of the projects will be in Sedgwick County, with $1.6 million going to improve edge conditions on MacArthur Road from 215th Street West to K-42.   The county will provide $1.1 million in matching funds.

Other projects are in Barber, Dickinson and Crawford counties.
