Gasoline prices suddenly went up 30 cents in Wichita early Tuesday.
Prices went up to $3.39 a gallon for regular, after staying around $3.11 during the July 4th holiday week. On Wednesday, AAA reported a national average of almost $3.54 a gallon with an average of $3.15 in Kansas. Sedgwick County was averaging $3.27 a gallon. The average price in Wichita for Wednesday was $3.24.
There was no immediate word from analysts on why the prices spiked just after a holiday weekend. Some said it was too early for Hurricane Beryl to have had an impact.
