Marguerite Johnson fulfilled her lifelong dream of military service by spending over 32 years in the Army, Army Reserve, and National Guard. Joining at age 18, she specialized in financial management, assisting soldiers with travel vouchers, contracting, and military pay, especially during and after deployments. Her service included active-duty stationing in Germany and behind-the-scenes support roles. Johnson retired as a sergeant first class, crediting her military career with teaching her patience, understanding, and non-judgment. Today, she continues working for the Kansas Army National Guard in Topeka, aiming to serve a few more years before full retirement.
