WICHITA, Kan. - A child is hurt after a shooting in south Wichita's Planeview neighborhood.
Police say a two-year-old girl was on a playground with three other children at an apartment complex near Ross Parkway and Roosevelt, when someone in a vehicle started shooting at around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The 26-year-old father of the girl grabbed her and took her to the apartment complex, then he took her to a hospital. She was treated and released for a foot injury. No arrests have been made.
In a press release, police chief Gordon Ramsay expressed outrage at the shooting and a lack of cooperation from the girl's parents. He said police will use every resource to find the gunman. The shooting is believed to be related to an ongoing feud between two street gangs.
It's the second shooting this week to injure a child, after shrapnel struck a seven-month-old boy in a shooting on north Chautauqua Tuesday.
