Gov. Jeff Colyer has conceded the race for Kansas governor.
Colyer made his announcement Tuesday evening from the Ceremonial Office of the Capitol Building in Topeka. Colyer is the current Governor, filling in after Sam Brownback left to become the ambassador for religious freedom.
Colyer, along with his running mate, will endorse their Republican opponents Secretary of State Kris Kobach and his running mate, Wink Hartman.
"I've just had a conversation with the Secretary of State and congratulated him on his success and repeated my determination to keep this seat in Republican hands. This election may be the closest in America. But the numbers are not there," said the governor.
Kobach currently leads Colyer in the primary. The governor aims to unify the republicans in Kansas.
