DA comments on Emily Glass death

He says investigations will continue

WICHITA, Kan - Sedgwick County district attorney Marc Bennett said his staff and Wichita police will continue their investigations into the death of five-year-old Lucas Hernandez and the death of Lucas's stepmother, 27-year-old Emily Glass.

The body of Glass was found in her east Wichita home early Friday morning, and police said it was an apparent suicide.  Glass led a private investigator to a location in Harvey County where Lucas's body was found on May 24th   Glass was arrested and later released.

Bennett said the autopsy on Lucas had not been completed and without a cause of death there was no basis for charges in the boy's death.  Investigators are still waiting on complete autopsy results.  He said "These are complicated cases and they take some time to put together."

Bennett said the question over Glass's death raises the question of what the impact will be on the overall investigation, and he said that is "to be determined."   He said law enforcement will continue the investigation until a resolution is reached.    If charges are filed, information will come out in court proceedings, but if no charges are filed, Bennett said he would release information and answer questions on the case.
