Dillons, food banks aim to raise 90,000 meals for Kansas families

WICHITA, Kan. - You can help food banks and Dillons grocery stores feed families in Kansas. 

The "Neighbor to Neighbor" food drive started Monday with a ceremony in Topeka. Dillons grocery stores are working with several food banks in Kansas to raise 90,000 meals to give to families in need.

Dillons Food Stores donated 2,500 lbs of non-perishable food, and you can help by donating food yourself at Dillons stores or online. Click here to start filling your virtual shopping cart.

Governor Jeff Colyer and other state leaders spoke at the statewide food drive kickoff Monday.

"The spirit of service is the very best of Kansas," Gov. Colyer said. "It is in the DNA of Kansans to help our neighbors in need, and this event is a perfect place to show how Kansans can make a difference in people's lives."

Governor Colyer also signed a proclamation declaring March as Kansas Agriculture Month and March 20 as Kansas Agriculture Day.
