Wichita - A large, national school walkout is planned for this Wednesday, March 14 in protest of gun violence in schools.
USD 259 Superintendent, Dr. Alicia Thompson, has issued a statement on the district's website.
Dr. Thompson strongly urges discussion about current events in classrooms but does not condone a walkout here. She says if students walk out of class in demonstration, USD 259 Schools will enforce tardy and unexcused attendance policies. The superintendent says high schools will allow student voices to be heard -- during lunchtime on March 14.
