Early springtime storms bring rain, thunder to Wichita

The storms did not reach severe levels

WICHITA, Kan. - Rumbles of thunder or rain hitting windows might have woken up people in Wichita, but the storms that moved across south central Kansas early Thursday morning did not reach severe levels in Sedgwick County.

Small hail and gusty winds are possible with scattered storms across south central and southeast Kansas Thursday morning.

Almost a tenth of an inch of rain fell in Wichita between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. Thursday. The National Weather Service measured 0.08 inches of rain at Eisenhower National Airport.

The next round of rain in Wichita is expected Sunday night.
