Butler County is ending a scheduled 10-year sales tax early. The county-wide one-fourth cent sales tax was put into effect April 1, 2010 and will end on June 30 this year.
The sales tax outpaced the original estimates, which is why the tax will end early.
"We would like to take the opportunity to thank our residents for their trust in us by voting for the sale tax in 2009, and we are pleased to be able to hold up our end of the agreement by ending it early as promised," Butler County Chairmen Dan Woydziak stated.
The sales tax will allow over $2.2 million annually to enter back into the regional economy.
