WICHITA, Kan. - Kansas has been chosen for a national fitness group's "DON'T QUIT!" fitness campaign. The National Foundation for Governors' Fitness Councils plans to install fitness centers in three Kansas schools.
You can nominate a school from now until April 6 by visiting natgovfit.org.
Chairman of the NFGFC, Jake Steinfeld, stated DON'T QUIT! fitness centers have been delivered to 24 states and Washington, D.C. so far.
Governor Jeff Colyer said the state government is excited to be partnering with the NFGFC.
"Encouraging Kansas kids to be active early in their life sets them on a course for a healthy lifestyle," Gov. Colyer said. "This is a great opportunity to give the gift of fitness to our kids."
The NFGFC stated each fitness center is financed through public and private partnerships with companies and does not rely on taxpayer dollars or state funding. TuffStuff Fitness International provides the fitness equipment.
"The Foundation's goal is to build a nation of the fittest, healthiest kids in the world," the NFGFC stated.
