WICHITA, Kan. - Amateur radio operators in the Wichita area will be involved in a special event this weekend. Amateur Radio Field Day will have ham radio stations set up in public locations across the country.
President of the Wichita Amateur Radio Club. Mark Hammann, said it's an exercise in preparedness.
"It allows us to help, in the event of an emergency, protect the citizens of Wichita that much better," Hammann said.
Field Day activities will be held Saturday and Sunday at the Wichita Regional Fire Training Facility near 31st Street South and Oliver.
