K-196 reopened in Butler County

3 bridges were replaced

POTWIN, Kan. - K-196 in Butler County is back open.

The highway between I-135 in Harvey County and K-254 near El Dorado had been shut down since February while construction crews completed a $2.7 million project to replace three bridges.  he bridges are located between Northwest Diamond Road and the K-196 Intersection and Northwest Tawakoni Road/K-196 between Potwin and Whitewater. 

The highway serves around 2,000 vehicles a day.  The three bridges were replaced and widened to include 10 foot shoulders.

Hesston based King Construction Company Inc. was the primary contractor.
