Kansas rocketeers head to national competition

Competing in Team America Rocketry Challenge

DESOTO, Kan. - A team of young rocket builders from Kansas is heading to Virginia for a national rocketry competition next month.

The team from Emerald City Schools in DeSoto, Kansas made the top 100 teams from across the country to compete in the Team America Rocketry Challenge finals May 12th.

The students will compete for $100,000 in prizes and scholarships, and they will compete for a chance to represent the US at the International Rocketry Challenge in England in July.

Team America stated their rocketry challenge has inspired almost 70,000 middle and high school students to explore education and careers related to science, technology, engineering and math.
