WICHITA, Kan. - Three men who are accused of plotting to detonate a bomb at a Kansas mosque are scheduled to go on trial this week.
Curtis Allen, Gavin Wright and Patrick Stein, are scheduled to go on trial in federal court in Wichita. They are accused of plotting to blow up a mosque at an apartment building in Garden City.
The apartment building, and mosque houses primarily Somali immigrants. The three men were arrested in 2016 and face numerous charges, including conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction.
Allen, Wright, and Stein, reportedly belonged to a militia group called the Kansas Security Force, and referred to themselves as "The Crusaders." Investigators say the three planned to detonate vehicle bombs outside of the mosque the day after the November 2016 election.
