Man arrested for weekend shooting in Arkansas City

No one was injured in the shooting Saturday

ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. - Arkansas City police have taken a man into custody, in connection to a weekend shooting.

It happened shortly before 12:30 a.m. Saturday in the 900 block of North First Street.  Police say a 33-year-old man and 47-year-old woman were sitting in a car when a 34-year-old man approached and exchanged words with the two.

He then pulled out a gun and fired 5 times into the car.  The man and woman were not hit by the gunfire.

Police could not locate the suspect, who was identified as 34-year-old Landon Lee Bissell.  After posting his photo on social media, police received a tip and were able to locate him.

He was later booked into jail on suspicion of felony counts of aggravated assault, criminal discharge of a firearm at an occupied vehicle, criminal possession of a firearm and possession of methamphetamine. He also was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor counts of criminal damage to property and possession of drug paraphernalia.
