WICHITA, Kan. - A man is being held in the custody of Olathe Police in connection to the death of his girlfriend in Wichita.
It began around 10:30 p.m. Monday when Wichita Police were sent to a home in the 2200 block of North Parkridge after they were contacted by Andover Police about property they had recovered in their city. Homicide Lt. Todd Ojile says the officers left the home after they didn't get an answer at the door.
Around 2 a.m. Olathe Police contacted Wichita Police to inform them they had recovered a car and other property in their community belonging to a resident who lived at the home on Parkridge. The vehicle and property were recovered while Olathe Police were investigating a suspicious character call.
Police returned to the home and attempted to make contact with someone inside. Shortly before 4 a.m., officers made the decision to force entry into home.
Lt. Ojile says inside, they found the body of a 42-year-old woman. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ojile says she appears to have some type of blunt force trauma, but they are still processing the scene and her body hasn't been examined. Detectives are traveling to Olathe to speak to the woman's boyfriend who was taken into custody during their suspicious character investigation.
The woman's name is being withheld until family has been notified. The suspect's name has not been released. KFDI News will not name the suspect until he has been formally charged in the case.
