WICHITA, Kan. - The new AMC Theatres location near 29th St N and Rock Road in Wichita is opening Friday, March 30.
AMC spokesperson Ryan Noonan said the interior of the Northrock 14 building is almost entirely new, with only the "shell" of the former Dickinson theatre that closed in 2012. Wichita residents who remember the old purple and chrome interior will not see anything familiar besides the general layout and the architecture outside.
Each cinema now includes all reclining seats, and almost the entire interior of the building has been remodeled. The lobby area now includes self-serve kiosks where customers can buy tickets and reserve seats, a guest services counter, a concessions area, and a full-service bar.
Answers to a few big questions:
- Doors open this Friday.
- The theatre serves Coke products.
- You can carry drinks from the bar into the cinemas.
- Tickets are around 10 bucks or less, but will cost a few dollars more for the "Dolby Cinema."
- MoviePass will be accepted.
After the theatre opens Friday, Noonan said moviegoers can expect to pay "Less than $10" for a ticket after 4 p.m. and "Less than $5" for a movie before noon. Noonan did not say how much regular matinee tickets would cost. Exact ticket prices should be clear once tickets are available online.
