WICHITA, Kan - Severe thunderstorms brought large hail, damaging winds and heavy rains to southern Kansas on Wednesday, but a tornado threat diminished for the Wichita area.
Winds of 92 miles an hour were reported at the Pratt Industrial Airport, and there were reports of a semi blown over and power poles down north of Pratt. Roofs were blown off two buildings in Iuka, in Pratt County.
Hail measuring around two inches was reported in Nickerson, in Reno County. There were reports of one inch hail in some counties and severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for Pratt, Barber, Reno and Kingman counties. The storms weakened as they moved into the Wichita area, but the storms still brought heavy rains.
