Two booked for murder in Wichita child's death

The boy was found encased in concrete at a home

WICHITA, Kan - A man and woman have been booked into jail for felony murder and child abuse in the death of a three-year-old boy whose body was found encased in concrete.

The boy, Evan Brewer, was found on September 2nd at a home in the 2000 block of South Vine.  A property owner was cleaning out the home when he noticed a suspicious concrete structure that was giving off an odor.    Police removed the structure and found the remains of a child inside.

Evan Brewer was the grandson of former Wichita mayor and gubernatorial candidate Carl Brewer.

A 40-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman have been in custody on unrelated charges, and the district attorney's office will make a decision later this week on charges related to the boy's death.
