Two Westar Energy employees burned in accident

It happened at a plant in northeast Kansas

Westar Energy says two employees were hurt in an accident at the Jeffrey Energy Center Sunday morning.

The center is northwest of St. Marys, in Pottawatomie County.  It is a coal-fired power plant with an industrial landfill.   

In a press release, Westar said the incident happened around 11:30 a.m. and the injured workers were taken by helicopter to the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City.  They are being treated for severe burns. 

No other details have been released and Westar officials are looking into the incident.
