ANDOVER, Kan. - Andover Police say a warrant has been issued in connection to the August 1, 2016 homicide of Sandra Berry.
Emergency crews were called to Berry's apartment around 11 p.m. that evening, where they found Berry with a deep wound to her neck. Efforts to save her were unsuccessful.
Berry's live-in boyfriend Roger Smith was found in a nearby apartment. He was taken in for questioning and later released.
A warrant was issued for Smith's arrest on May 25. He is currently being held in the El Dorado Correctional Facility for an unrelated crime.
Smith is scheduled to be paroled on July 1. Andover says Smith will be served with the warrant and a first appearance is scheduled for June 29 in Butler County Disctrict Court.
