WICHITA, Kan - A local coalition has presented 37 Wichita flags to the city to be flown at police and fire stations and recreation centers.
Together Wichita is made up of eleven organizations and the Wichita Eagle newspaper, working year-round on community improvement projects. The group donated 93 Wichita flags last year to Wichita public schools.
Spokesperson Tessa Brungardt said the donation was made in celebration of National Flag Day and it's a way to extend Wichita pride into more neighborhoods.
City council member James Clendenin said the Wichita flag has brought people together to create a sense of pride.
The presentation was made Thursday at a news conference at Central Riverside Park.
