WICHITA, Kan - The Wichita Ice Center should be open again soon after equipment problems forced it to close.
A broken pipe and an ammonia leak affected the chiller about two weeks ago. The city has approved a temporary chiller that will install NHL ice in the rink.
A message on the Ice Center's Facebook page said it will take about a week to install the temporary chiller and then another five days will be needed to make the ice. The center said it will work to make sure all user groups have the opportunity for skating, figure skating and hockey activities.
