Wichita stabbing victim identified

WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita police arrested a man early Tuesday for a homicide near 21st and Amidon.

Officers got a call around 2am, from a man living at an apartment in the 1900 block of North Amidon. Police say the man claimed to have hurt his girlfriend, and had a knife as officers arrived. The 25-year-old man was arrested without incident and booked into jail for first-degree murder. 

Investigators found a 22-year-old woman dead at the scene with multiple stab wounds. She is identified as Mackenzie Payne.

Police say this is Wichita's third domestic violence related homicide for 2018. The city saw eight in 2017.
