Woman arrested after south Wichita house fire

Investigators said it was arson

WICHITA, Kan - An unidentified woman was arrested Sunday after a fire at her home.

Crews were called to the 2100 block of South St. Francis around 10 a.m. with a report of a fire and a disturbance that was going on.

Lieutenant Jose Ocadiz said once police got control of the situation and crews were able to go inside, the fire was put out quickly.   He said the woman was arrested for arson and for animal endangerment. Ocadiz said a number of cats were found inside the home, and they were turned over to an animal shelter. 

The fire caused around $45,000 in damage.
