YMCA assault suspect waives hearing

Caleb Gaston will stand trial next month

WICHITA, Kan - A former employee of the downtown YMCA in Wichita will stand trial next month for a sexual assault on a four-year-old girl.

21-year-old Caleb Gaston waived his preliminary hearing during an appearance Thursday in Sedgwick County district court.  His trial was scheduled for July 23rd.

Gaston is accused of two counts of rape of a person under 14 years old.  He's accused of assaulting the girl while working in the KidZone at the YMCA. He is also charged with indecent liberties with a child in an incident involving a three-year-old girl.    He is still being held in the Sedgwick County jail on a bond of $1.1 million.

The YMCA has developed new policies for the KidZone as a result of the downtown incident.
