Another weekend in the Wichita area and there is always something going on.  Here are just a few of the HIGHLIGHTS that will keep you busy (In no particular order)


Kansas Grown Farmers Market-Tomatofest

Always good to start the day with the Kansas Grown Farmers Market.  You have 3 to choose from in Derby, Old Town and on the 7001 W. 21st St. N.  The 21st St. location has something special going on today. TOMATOFEST.  It’s one of their biggest days of the season.  Miss Roma, Kids Cornhole, Thunder Dog, Live Music, Troubles The Clown.  It’s going on from 7a-12n

Fuel My Kidneys

You are invited for lunch to help raise money for a young man who is waiting for a kidney transplant.  Jorge Diaz, a North High grad, is currently on the transplant list and medical bills are piling up.  From 11a-6p stop by Danny’s Liquor (2247 N. Arkansas) and enjoy tacos and refreshments with proceeds helping Jorge.  Find out how you can win a 350lb pig.

Bazaar for Bella’s Battle

The Cross Point Free Will Baptist Church (1515 East Harry) is hosting a Bazaar fundraiser for the Bush family as their little girl Bella battles brain cancer.  It’s from 9a-4p today, there are great things to shop for, bid on in a silent auction, there will be food trucks, crafts, books and more.  

Hurts Donut 5K

Want some exercise, join in on the Hurts Donut 5k at Sedgwick County Park.  It starts at 9a.  Registration starts at 7a.  It’s family friendly and you can run or walk.  Proceeds benefit the National MS Foundation.

Free Family Movie Night

Grab your chairs, blankets and the family and head to New Market Square for a showing of Disney’s Moana.  It’s free, kid friendly and starts at 7:30p

Tea and Tutus

Botanica and Wichita Ballet have teamed up for a children’s tea party.  The little ones can bring their dolls for the shopping, ballet, a brief performance of the “Wizard of Oz” and more.

Movie In The Alley

Another movie choice is closer to downtown.  Movie in the alley at Gallery Alley invites you to bring your favorite popcorn and movie candy and enjoy the fun, 90’s film “Clueless”.

44th Shrine Game

Saturday night football is just what you need.  Get to Butler Community College for the 44th Shrine Game.  It starts at 7p

Food Trucks At The Fountain

What are you doing for lunch?  How about Food Trucks by the Fountain.  The morning starts at 10a with a donation based outdoor yoga class for charity.  Then at 11am it’s all about the food trucks, the food, the live music and the fun until it all wraps up at 2p.

Part of the 2 weeks of the NBC World Series is the Stars and Stripes Concert Starring Craig Morgan…..Sunday night at Kansas Star Casino.  Proceeds benefit the E3 Foundation
