An unidentified woman was pulled from the Arkansas River near downtown Wichita, and police are calling it a suicide attempt.

Emergency crews were called to Central and McLean shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday when two bicyclists found the woman floating in the river near Douglas and Seneca.

Officer Charley Davidson said in a press release that the 63-year-old woman was taken to a hospital in serious condition.   Investigators found that she has had several suicide attempts in the past and it’s believed she jumped into the water on her own.
