The B-29 Doc Hangar and Education Center is open to the public for an Open House from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Janurary 26.
You and your families are invited to check out the new facility and get a cockpit tour of the B-29. The event costs $10 per person or $20 for a family.
Construction on the hangar and maintenance portions of the building finished in November, and work on the education and visitors center was “largely completed” in early January. The group Doc’s Friends sent out a press release before a ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday morning.
“Since moving into the new facility in November, the Doc’s Friends team of dedicated volunteers have wasted no time getting to work on winter maintenance operations,” the group stated. “That includes engine work, propeller recertifications and other planned maintenance on the historic warbird.”
Doc’s Friends is still raising money for the hangar and education center, and the group stated they still need another $500,000 to pay for the final construction and design costs.
