Wichita is ranked as the least safe city in Kansas, by the National Council for Home Safety and Security.
Derby was ranked as 7th safest, Andover as 5th safest, and Leawood was the overall safest city in the state.
The rankings are based on overall violent crime numbers and population from the FBI’s 2017 Crime Report. The NCHSS excluded some cities from the ranking though, including Kansas City, which had an overall violent crime rate lower than Wichita’s, but a much higher murder rate. Cities with a population below 10,000 were also excluded, leading to only 30 cities in Kansas being ranked.
