Wichita Police say a 33-year-old man battered officers who were taking him into custody.
It happened around 1:45 a.m. Wednesday at Pawnee Prairie Park near Pawnee and Maize Road. Two officers were reportedly patrolling in the area when the spotted a vehicle in the park after hours.
Officer Charley Davidson says the man fought officers as they tried to take him into custody after learning he had outstanding warrant. One of the officers suffered a minor injury to the leg.
Officers found the man was in possession of drugs, several knives and a set of metal knuckles. He’s being held on charges of aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer, battery of a law enforcement officer, possession of illegal weapons, aggravated weapons violation, resist arrest, unlawful possession of methamphetamine, being in the park after hours, and outstanding warrants.
