The City of Wichita’s Public Works Department says they are ready to respond to the expected snow storm this weekend.
Director Alan King says 2 to 4 inches could be possible, with some computer models predicting even more. All 60 snow plows are expected to be out to respond to the weather.
King says that they most likely will begin with the plow blades down to remove the snow before laying down any salt and sand for traction. He says that will slow their initial response, but with blowing snow, and with low temperatures, it will be easier to remove the snow completely from the surface of the road.
Snow is expected to begin falling Saturday night and continue into Sunday.
