Century II committee talks about future of performing arts in Wichita

The separate halls of Century II have hosted countless events since it was built in 1969 to celebrate the Wichita 1970 Centennial. Now, 50 years later, the Century II Citizen’s Committee says the building is outdated and needs either costly repairs or replacement.

KFDI’s Jake Bowles sat down with community leaders Mary Beth Jarvis and Larry Weber to talk about the future of Century II. Jarvis is the president and CEO of Wichita Festivals, and she chairs the Century II Citizen’s Advisory Committee. Weber is the VP of Builders, Inc. and runs the Garvey Center, the skyscraper just across the street from Century II. Weber is also on the advisory committee.

In the interview, Jarvis and Weber discuss the challenges the city faces and what they have learned in trying to find solutions.
