Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors retired U.S. Air Force Brigadier General Maralin Coffinger. Maralin says she likes being the boss and being in charge and it’s that sort of drive and dedication to serve her country that turned her into decorated veteran and woman of history. Even though the military was a male dominated field when she joined, that didn’t stop her wanting to lead. Maralin rose through the ranks, served in the Pentagon during Vietnam and in the Middle East and was honored in 1985 with the rank of Brigadier General after 26 years of service. Maralin doesn’t think she’s a champion for women’s issues but she does hope her story helps and inspires other women. Thank you Maralin for your service.
