Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors veteran Christopher Driggins and his organization “Parrots for Patriots”. For nearly 20 years Christopher has been rescuing birds. He says they are not perfect. Some have to be cooked for because they’re missing part of their bill. Just like his birds, Christopher says he’s not perfect, he says he’s always had a constant stutter. When he started working with birds the stutter went away and that’s when “Parrots for Patriots” was born. Christopher says owning a bird is like raising a 3-year old, they require constant attention and focus and that has helped many veterans with PTSD. He says they keep you busy and you don’t have time to think negative. Thank you Christopher for helping and thank you for your service.
