Wichita man gets life for fatal 2016 shooting

A Wichita man has been sentenced to life in prison with no parole for 50 years in connection with a fatal 2016 shooting at a south side home.

62-year-old Casimiro Nunez was convicted by a jury in March of first degree murder.  He was given a Hard 50 sentence for the murder and a sentence of 18 months for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.    Sedgwick County district judge Steven Ternes ordered the sentences to run concurrently.

Nunez was convicted in the October, 2016 shooting death of 46-year-old Antonio Guzman, who was shot three times at a home in the 3100 block of South Yale, in the Planeview neighborhood.
