Spotters and Kansas Highway Patrol troopers were reporting a tornado on the ground west of Junction City as a severe storm moved into northeast Kansas.
The storm triggered tornado warnings for Dickinson, Riley, Clay and Geary counties.
There have been no reports of damage or injuries. Radar also indicated large hail with the storm.
Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for parts of Reno, Rice, McPherson and Marion counties as storm activity began to develop Tuesday afternoon. There were reports of quarter sized hail in Rice County.
A severe thunderstorm watch was in effect for central and south central Kansas until 10 p.m.
