Flood waters are starting to recede in Sedgwick County, but more rain is making its way into the area.

Cody Charvat with Sedgwick County Emergency Management tells KFDI News that the release from Cheney Reservoir into the north branch of the Ninescah River has not had a significant impact on flooding.  He says while areas along the river, including pastures and farm land are experiencing flooding, it hasn’t caused a big impact on the area.

Charvat went on to say that waters are receding in the South Fork Ninescah, which has a deeper and wider channel.  119th Street South and 119th Street West remains closed due to flooding, but other barricades have been coming down across the county.

However, with more rain in the forecast, we could see the potential for additional flash flooding.
