Wichitans observe “The Murph Challenge” on Memorial Day

Memorial Day…the day when we remember those who paid for our freedom with their ultimate sacrifice. Now, ways of memorializing the dead are evolving.

Trending online Monday was “The Murph Challenge,” named after its creator Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy. Murphy was killed in 2005 in Afghanistan but his namesake workout lives on, popularly observed on Memorial Day by Crossfitters.

Country 101.3 KFDI listener Becky Phelps tells us via Facebook that more than 60 people completed “The Murph Challenge” in Wichita Monday at Compelled Fitness. Here’s Phelps’ photo of their successful challenge:
