A 19-year-old man is in jail after he crashed, while trying to flee a DUI checklane.
It happened around 1:45 a.m. Sunday on Washington, one block south of Douglas. Police say the driver of a white Chevy Tahoe was traveling south on Washington when the driver turned around to avoid a DUI checklane that was operating on Washington.
An officer turned on his lights and began pursuit of the Tahoe, which turned east on Douglas, before making a u-turn and traveling west. The driver of the Tahoe then crashed into a red Ford Fusion that was traveling north on Washington, before striking two unoccupied cars that were parked on Douglas.
The driver of the Tahoe and his 18-year-old female passenger were taken by EMS to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries and released. The 19-year-old man has since been booked into jail for two counts of aggravated battery, possession of marijuana, and flee and elude.
The 20-year-old in the Ford Fusion was not seriously hurt.
