Ark City’s water voted best in Kansas

Water from Arkansas City was voted best tasting water in Kansas during this year’s Conference and Exhibition for Water and Wastewater Utilities.

Judges were given blind samples of water from public sources from across the state. A sample from Ark City will be sent to a national competition, the Great American Water Taste Test. This is part of the National Rural Water Association’s annual rally in D.C.

Arkansas City’s winning water is thanks to a newer water treatment plant that went online in March of 2018. It uses the reverse osmosis process which is also used in a lot of bottled water applications.

Ottawa County Rural Water District 5 took home the second-pace trophy is this year’s competition. This comes from a small plant that serves less than 1000 people in the Salina area.
