WPD reporting spike in south Wichita car burglaries

There has been a spike in burglaries from cars over the past few weeks. Wichita police are seeing this rise in the south end of town.

People are getting into cars and taking wallets, purses, and electronics. This is mainly happening at homes but there have been some cases in the Old Town area too.

License plates are also being stolen. If you’re concerned, a set of security screws from Amazon will run around $12.

These cases are mainly happening Thursdays and Fridays, between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m. Keeping your car locked and taking valuables out of your car can help prevent most of these thefts. You’re also urged to keep an eye out for anyone acting suspicious around a car and make a 911 call to report them.
