New details in Monday’s shooting on Interstate 135

a 31-year-old Park City man is facing a charge of attempted first-degree murder for the shooting that happened Monday morning on Interstate 135, near 21st Street.

Wichita Police say the 31-year-old man, shot a 30 year-old man, who was also a passenger in the SUV they were riding in.  He then got out and walked away.

The 48-year-old driver of the SUV drove the victim to the Wichita Police Patrol North substation near 21st and Hillside to get the victim help.  The 30-year-old man was taken by EMS to the hospital where he was treated for two non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

The 48-year-old driver stayed at the substation and cooperated with police while they investigated.  A Kansas Highway Patrol trooper spotted the suspect in the 2500 block of North Kansas and took him into custody.

KFDI News is not releasing the suspect’s name until he is formally charged with a crime.
